How much does a mom spend on baby's clothes the first year?

At the rate a baby grows into toddlers, all I see is dollar signs flying out the window. I already know I will need a number for mommy shopping anonymous. So, when the time is right, I will be searching for used adorable baby clothes.

My own mother had 4 girls in row. Did I mention 4?! After the youngest grew out of all her hand me down baby clothes, my mother was left with a gigantic pile of pink and purple clothes that found their way to the thrift stores.

When babies are born, they are an average length of 20 inches.  Then after a year they will grow 10 more inches to 30 inches. I was surprised to find from year one until two, they only grow 5 more inches to 35 inches.  From ages 2 - 12, they will grow 2 to 2.5 inches a year (according to answersyahoo). That sounds like a lot of clothes to me. 

(Cute baby sweats. I would by them for myself if they came in my size, but they are probably one sevenths my size. So shouldn't the price be too? 10 inches in one year! Thats about the length of my ruler on my desk. No wonder moms are always coming home with new baby clothes. So how much do moms spend on baby clothes the first year? According to the babycenter after surveying more than 1000 moms, they came up with the numbers.  Mom's spent 59 dollars per month on clothes. Yikes, thats 708 dollars a year. But I can see how that's easily justified. Just like my latte addiction (I don't want to get into it).
